MUTALE – The police are singing praises for the community of Mangaya, after they helped the police in the arrest of a suspected murderer who was on the run since April 18, Good Friday, the day he committed the crime.
According to police spokesperson, Capt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, the 25-year-old resident of Mangaya was on the run from the police since he allegedly stabbed Robert Netshisaulu (34) whom he said owed him R10.
"We were informed that the man found Netshisaulu sitting with a friend during the evening of Good Friday. Upon arrival the suspect demanded that Netshisaulu should pay back the R10 he owed him. The suspect then allegedly took out his knife and stabbed the victim several times until he collapsed and died later. The suspect ran away from the scene of the incident where we searched for him until we arrested him on April 24 while he was sleeping under a tree near Mulondodi River. He appeared to be hungry when community members found him there," said Mushavhanamadi.
