First phase of electricity supply at Thenga completed

HA-MASHAU- Residents of Thenga, Mukhoro and Mashau Thondoni settlements assembled at the Frank Mukhaswakule Primary School (Thenga) last Thursday, to celebrate the official opening of electricity projects by the Makhado Municipality.

When addressing the meeting, Mr Kganyago Charles Cheune, Engineer of Leshika Consulting, the project at Thenga resumed last year in May. "Presently, we have already finished the first phase and for that reason I can reveal that we have been on good track," he said.

He further elaborated that he would continue to render his professional services, as the contractor was given extra funds by the municipality to finish the projects. "The Makhado Municipality gave me up to May 15th to complete the outstanding units at Thenga, Cheune said the project at Thenga cost R2 million. He however, appreciated the Makhado Municipality brave move to appoint the historically disadvantaged in their tenders.

He also urges students specialising in technical fields to approach his company via the Makhado Municipality for in service training purposes.

In his statement, the Mayor of the Makhado Municipality, Cllr BM Tlakula, revealed that about 1 800 houses have been allocated with 300 houses for people with disabilities in all wards of the Makhado Municipality. "We are still going to open many projects, further claiming that 99% of villages within the Makhado Municipality are electrified. Cllr Tlakula apologised on behalf of the Makhado Municipality for not informing the King in time, promising that the Municipality would send delegations in time if there would be matters that need the involvement of the Chief. About 1023 units have been electrified in Mashau, in Thondoni (500), Thenga (310) and Mukhoro (213) and with approximately 3,6 million utilised for the projects.
