SHAYANDIMA – The once popular radio drama actor, Avhatakali Hendrick Mutshinyani, who was better known as Mutsamai after his role in Phalaphala FM radio drama, Phandula Luvalo, is no more. He died on March 12 after a short-illness.

He was born on March 23, 1966 at Duthuni. He completed his matric and registered for a BA in Education with the University of Venda. He later furthered his studies at the Rand Afrikaanse University as a part-time student, while working as a teacher at secondary school level.

His popularity came after the Phalaphala FM story called Phandula Luvalo wherein he played the role of Mutsamai, a drunkard who also worked as an assistant of a bricklayer, Mr Xwapuxwapu.

He was appointed as deputy principal at Shayandima High School early this year, before this appointment he was attached to a neighbouring school, Khwevha Commercial High.
