Woman stabbed in family feud

MOPANI – The Giyani police have arrested a 22-year-old man and charged him with murder, following the death of a 37-year-old woman, Ms Betha Zitha of Shiawela village. The incident took place at the Shiawela Village near Giyani on Sunday morning.

According to the spokesperson of the police in the area Capt Moatshe Ngoepe, Ms Zitha and the suspect were engaged in a chilling argument before the incident. During the argument the suspect allegedly produced a panga and stabbed Ms Zitha several times in the stomach.

She fell down and the suspect, according to the statement, allegedly went to the house and came back with an assegai. He then stabbed the deceased to death with the assegai.

The deceased's husband was on the reef where he works, when the incident occurred. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday morning and was still to appear in court at the time of going to press.

In another incident, the body of a 22-year-old man, Benneth Seale of Kwakwaila Village was found dumped alongside the road at Mohlaneng village in the Bolobedu area.

The incident took place on Saturday morning. There were multiple stab wounds on his body. The police in Bolobedu have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the incident on Monday afternoon. He was still to appear in court at the time of going to press. In the meantime police investigations are continuing.
