Housebreaker to jail for four months

GIYANI – Two men have been sentenced for housebreaking, theft and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm last Friday. The case was finalised in the Giyani Magistrate's Court.

The 22-year old Keyson Nxumalo of Nkomo Village appeared before the magistrate in connection with housebreaking and theft committed at Nkomo Village during 2001. He broke into a house and stole a hi-fi set with its speakers to the value of R1 500. The case was postponed several times, but last Friday he was sentenced to four months imprisonment or a R3 000 fine.

It has also been confirmed by the SAPS communications officer of Giyani, Insp. Hasani Mabasa, that a resident of Skhimini Village, Carton Maake (22) also appeared before the magistrate last Friday in connection with an assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Maake stabbed Evans Maboho (19) with a knife and received three months imprisonment with the option of a R2 000 fine.
