In an effort to groom and nurture football talent, while helping young people to refrain from engaging in delinquent behaviour, Madombidzha Arsenal FC held a beauty competition last Friday evening.

In a glittering ceremony, beautiful young ladies paraded on a catwalk at the Makhado show grounds. After the girls had paraded in various items of clothing and showing their modelling talent, the judges ultimately announced the top five contestants.

The beauty competition coincided with a fundraising for the community club to help the management recruit more young people to participate actively in sports. The coordinator, Mr Trinity Tshivhula, insisted that sport is a powerful tool to curb the scourge of crime.

All the participants received merit certificates and electric kettles for participation. The queen, Miss Mulalo Sinthumule, went home with a four plate-stove, while the two princesses, Phathutshedzo Mudau and Phindi Thavhiwa, received microwave ovens.
