The Tanzanian High Commissioner in South Africa, Ms Radhia Msuya, has urged South Africans to stand firm and take the future of Africa forward and upward.

“The effort that all of us put into the liberation struggle in South Africa and in Africa should not be in vain. South Africa and Tanzania shared political ideas during the struggle for liberation,” she said during a public lecture at the senate chambers of Univen on Monday evening. She delivered the South African 20 years of freedom celebrations public lecture. The topic of the lecture was From Morogoro and beyond: Tanzania and South African relations.

Msuya reminded the guests that while South Africa is celebrating 20 years of freedom and Tanzania 50 years of union, they must not forget where they came from and where they are today.

The principal of Univen, Prof Peter Mbati, said Univen welcomed the lecture and said it was the vision of the institution to be a centre of tertiary education for rural and regional development in South Africa. “As a comprehensive institution, Univen offers a range of undergraduate and post-graduate qualifications in fields of study that are responsive to the development needs of the South African region,” he added.
