Members of the gospel fraternity in Limpopo are mourning the death of a well-known gospel singer and pastor, whose body was found in Giyani.

The body of Nkhesani Thomas Makhubele of Mapayeni village was found in the bushes in Giyani. Multiple injuries were found on the body.

According to the police spokesman, W/O Thomas Makhubele, it seems that the singer was killed on his way to Khetho Nxumalo, where the singer was renting a room. He was allegedly killed on Wednesday (16th), but he was only identified on Friday. “So far, no one has been arrested but we believe we will soon make an arrest. We are also appealing to members of the public to assist us in order to bring the culprit to book,” said Makhubele.

A family member and local councillor, Mr Jackson Makhubele, said the family was devastated about the singer’s death. “What worries us is that it was not a natural death, but he was killed.” He added that Makhubele had divorced his wife four years ago and he had also moved from his home village of Mapayeni and rented a room, where he stayed with his girlfriend.

Makhubele has been singing gospel music for more than 15 years and  his fans will miss his hits songs like Tshikela Yehovha, Mahlomulo ya Yobo and Misava ya lova.
