TSHIVHASE – The fed-up community of Tshivhase in Limpopo has submitted a memorandum to the office of the SAPS Area Commissioner, in which they demand his transfer.

Hundreds of Tshivhase community members submitted a memorandum to Commissioner Masepa Maepa last Tuesday morning.

The memorandum demanded the transfer of Maepa and his directorate as well as the restructuring of the murder and robbery unit.

They also demanded for the deployment of the elite Scorpion Unit and establishment of the Independent Complaints Directorate office in the area. The community also demanded the arrest of suspects in the death of Mutshinyalo Grace Nephawe, Tendani Lukhwareni and the emptying of the Mavhola Dam. The Mavhola Dam is where the skull, allegedly belonging to Nephawe, was found two years back.

The community also wants the skull that was sent to a Pretoria laboratory to be brought back.

The community also asked the area office to fax their demands to the provincial MEC Dikeledi Magadzi, Provincial Commissioner Ntodeni Sengani, Charles Nqakula and President Thabo Mbeki.

They demanded a response within fourteen working days. According to Avhatakali Nethononda, secretary of the Tshivhase Youth Council, the Thohoyandou Magistrate's court angered them by changing the murder case of Lukhwareni into an inquest.

Lukhwareni's case was postponed from March 19 to April 15, because the suspect Makonde Bongwe was not available.

Nethononda said they are concerned that Tendani was killed on April 17 last year, and no suspect was yet brought before the law. Nethononda said they were suspecting that the suspects bribed some of the police.

"We are concerned that the case was not heard on Wednesday because the suspect was not informed, hence our witnesses were told to come to court. We are afraid that these delaying tactics might lead to assassinations of some witnesses," he added.

Police spokesperson, Captain Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, said the commissioner would respond to the memorandum.
