NZHELELE - People sang songs of praise as Chief Toni Mphephu Ramabulana passed young girls clad in traditional attire during his diplomatic visit to Chief Calvin Mandiwana's Royal Kraal last Saturday.

Among the dignitaries were Cllr Pheneus Muladi from the Makhado Municipality, Dr Alfred Nevhutanda (governmental legislature), chiefs and traditional leaders. The reason for the visit was to strengthen ties with the Mandiwana clan.

In his address, Mphephu described Chief Mandiwana as a brave soldier who supported the late Paramount Chief and former President of the then Republic of Venda, Patrick Mphephu Ramabulana. "Since my father passed away many people, including Mandiwana, thought it would be the end of the road. Now I am building the friendship like never before," said Mphephu.

The community is now rebuilding the Dzata ruines and Kokwane foot prints as tourism attractions. Mphephu also proposed building a museum for the Vha-Venda tribe, in order for the new generation not to forget their roots.

Cllr Muladi congratulated Mphephu's idea of bringing together the VhaVenda tribe.

In response, Chief Calvin Mandiwana said he would continue serving as Mphephu's soldier as his forefathers did. Mandiwana and Mphephu declared that they would appease their ancestors, by showing humanity and respect to each other.

People were entertained by cultural dances performed by Mandiwana's followers.
