The deputy chairperson of Univen Radio Board, Ms Asnath Nesengani, has urged the business community and sponsors in Vhembe to support Univen Radio.
“We appreciate some of the local business partners who are advertising their businesses with Univen Radio and we are what we are because of you support. You are like someone who ploughs the seed into fertile soil. One day you will reap what you sew, and we hope we are growing bigger and bigger because of your support,” said Nesengani.
Nesengani was speaking during Univen Community Radio’s gala dinner held near Thohoyandou about two weeks ago.
During the event, some of the businesspeople, sponsors and media houses were given tokens of appreciation as way of encouraging partnership with Univen Radio.
Univen Radio is a community radio station, established on 5 September 1997, and is based at the Univen campus in Thohoyandou.
According to the director of communications and marketing at Univen, Mr Takalani Dzaga, Univen FM is a media house which provides information, education and entertainment to the vast majority of people within the Vhembe region. “We urge our advertisers to be Univen radio’s ambassadors, so that Univen radio can serve the communities around the Vhembe region with pride. Our station provides the platform for the community to address and understand issues of politics, agriculture, sports, gender, youth development, women and children,” said Dzaga.
