Security guard found dead

MOPANI – The police in Bolobedu have opened a case of murder, following the death of a 48-year-old man, Thomas Maimele. Maimele was employed as a security guard at the local shop. His body was found lying outside the shop with multiple stab wounds on Tuesday morning.

According to the spokesperson of the police in the Mopani area, Capt Moatshe Ngoepe, the deceased’s body was covered with a blanket and his service pistol was missing. The statement indicates that the shop had been broken into the previous night, and that groceries and a huge amount of cash were stolen during the incident.

The search for the killers was still on at the time of going to press.

*In a separate incident, the police in Giyani have also opened an inquest docket following the death of a man who is estimated to be about 45 years old. His decomposed body was found in the bushes of Shiluvani Village near Giyani on Monday.

The police were still tracing the deceased’s family members at the time of going to press. According to the police statement, it is difficult for them to identify the man, as he was almost a skeleton at the time when the body was discovered.

The statement indicates that the man is about 1,8m tall. His clothes were found next to the body and are a pair of navy blue trousers, a brown belt, a cream white shirt with maroon stripes and a green vest.

The body is being kept at the Giyani government mortuary. The police have appealed to anyone with information relating to the case or who wish to identify the body to contact the Giyani Police Station at Tel 015-8115026.
