MASETONI - The police at Ha-Lambani has arrested a 25-year old woman for assaulting her common-law husband. The alleged incident took place a fortnight ago.

Police spokesperson Capt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi said the accused is Tshilidzi Tshifhango of Masetoni Village. Mushavhanamadi said the couple was in their home when they started arguing.

"She and her 30 year-old husband were at home when she allegedly accused her husband of having an affair with another woman. She then attacked her husband with a sharp instrument and injured his right hand.

The man, who was bleeding profusely, was admitted to Donald Fraser Hospital while the wife was arrested on that day," said Mushavhanamadi.

She appeared in the Tshilwavhusiku Periodical court last week and will again appear on February 22.

Mushavhanamadi said the police are happy that men are now starting to report cases about attacks and abuse by their wives. "In the past, we had serious problems as men did not want to report cases of this nature," he said.
