The Northern Province’s Department of Public Transport this week announced that the grace period for the replacement of black-and-white and black-and-yellow number plates has been extended from January until March 2002.
This is in accordance with the Northern Province Road Traffic Act, Act 5 of 1997, Section 25 (1) and the proclamation notice number 773 of 2002 which was published on January 28th, 2002.
Despite the changing of the province’s name, vehicle owners must however take note that they will still have to change their number plates to one bearing the province’s name, Baobab tree and Coat of Arms, by the end of the extended grace period.
