COLLEGEVIEW - A resident of Collegeview settlement, Vusi Teledi (32) has briefly appeared in the Mala Magistrate's Court on Monday, on a charge of murder.
The incident relating to the case took place at the accused's home at Collegeview near Bushbuckridge last Saturday night at about 22:00.
According to the spokesperson of the police in the Lowveld area Insp Moatshe Ngoepe, Ms Elsie Mashego (25) has paid a visit to her boyfriend, Teledi, on the day of the incident. According to the police statement an argument ensued between the two while they were about to go to bed.
The statement further indicates that the centre of the argument was that Teledi accused Ms Mashego of having an affair with another man. She denied all the allegations that were laid against her and apparently the accused lost his temper.
According to the statement Teledi then started to assault her with his fists. She fell down and Teledi continued to assault her with various objects, including wooden sticks and kitchen utensils. She then lost consciousness.
She was taken to the nearby health centre where she was, according to the police statement certified dead on arrival. Teledi was arrested the following morning. He appeared in court on Monday and the case was remanded to next Monday, January 28 for bail application.
