GOGOGO - The late Azwifarwi Elvis Makhado (42), a South African civilian who died under mysterious circumstances in Burundi two weeks ago, was hailed as a fallen hero, who died on a mission to unite Africa.

The family spokesperson Balanganani Sampson Makhado said they are proud of their son whom they will always remember as the first hero to die, while trying to fulfill the President Mbeki's mission of uniting Africa. "It is difficult to make a funeral of this event. It is also hurtful, but we are also proud that he died for his country. The family is thankful to the coverage of his death, which we think is an honor to him. We also hope that his death will not disturb those who would like to fight for peace in Africa. As a family we still support the mission of uniting Africa," said Balanganani.
