Woman (58) shot dead at Ritavi

RITAVI - The police in the Lowveld are looking for two unknown gunmen who shot and killed a 58-year-old woman.

The incident took place at Khujawana Village in the Ritavi area on Tuesday night at about 23:30.

According to the spokesperson of the police in the Northern Province, Supt Ronel Otto, the deceased and her 15-year-old granddaughter were fast asleep in her house when the incident took place.

The statement indicates that two unknown men broke into the house in which the deceased was sleeping. They entered through the window. The woman and the girl were awakened by a strange noise after the men tried to find their way to the room in which they were sleeping.

When she woke up she saw the two men coming towards her. She screamed for help, and one of the gunmen produced a fire-arm and shot her in the head. She died instantly.

The girl told the police that the men jumped out of the house through the same window after the incident. The suspects and the motive of her killing are unkown to the police. The deceased was identified as Mrs Mavis Ngohovela of Khujawana Village. The police have appealed to anyone who has information regarding the matter to contact them at the nearest police station.
