FOLOVHODWE – Health and Welfare MEC Seaparo Sekoati visited the poorest of the poor areas, Folovhodwe in the Mutale Municipality, to celebrate mental health awareness day under the theme ‘Upholding the rights of persons with mental health disabilities” on Monday.
In his speech, he said that people with disabilities must be respected like anybody else. The department distributed 80 wheelchairs to some of the physically disabled persons in the Limpopo Province on July 9. The department is also planning to add 200 wheelchairs to other deserving persons.
Sekoati congratulated all people who contributed to ensure that those who are physically disabled are able to lead a normal life.
“We must ensure that mentally disabled persons live with their families or foster parents. We must in-volve these organizations and the families of mentally disabled persons in the formulation of legislation, identification of the needs, resources, safeguards and monitoring of their sup-port services,” he said.
