BOLOBEDU – Four young men whose ages range from 18 to 25 were arrested for armed robbery last Saturday. The incident took place at the Badudi village in the Bolobedu area at about 09:00.

According to police spokesperson in the Mopani Area Capt Moatshe Ngoepe the complainant was walking from Mtileng village to her home when the incident took place.

She met the four suspects along the way. According to the police statement each of the suspects was armed with a firearm. The statement further indicates that the suspects demanded the complainant's handbag at gunpoint. Realising that her life was in danger, the complainant quickly succumbed to the accused.

There was cash amounting to R150 in the handbag. The complainant reported the matter to the police later that afternoon and the suspects were arrested the following day. They were still to appear in court at the time of going to press.

* In a separate incident the police in the area have arrested a 50-year-old man at the Mashishimane village near Phalaborwa on Sunday for raping a toddler. According to the police they were busy patrolling the area on Sunday morning at about 03:30 when they saw the suspect's vehicle parked in the bushes.

They went closer to the vehicle after suspecting that something sinister could be happening. On arrival at the scene the police allegedly found the man on top of a ten-year-old girl with his trousers below his knees. He was arrested at the spot and was still to appear in court at the time of going to press.
