Youth leader in Tshivhase threatened

News  Date: 07 March 2003

TSHIVHASE - Another youth leader in the Tshivhase area, Avhatakali Christopher Nethononda, the secretary of the Tshivhase Youth Committee, lives in fear, following life threats he received at the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court two weeks ago.

According to a statement from the police, Nethononda was threatened on February 18, outside the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court. He said he was leaving after attending the hearing of Messrs Aaron Bongwe and Aluwani Mutshatshi from Ngwenani Village.

He said a man threatened to kill him, "because I am the leader of the youth who are fighting to know who murdered Mutshinyalo Grace Nephawe and who assassinated Tendani Victor Lukhwareni on April 17, 2002. I feel it is strange for me as a leader to be threatened with death. What makes me feel more threatened is that this is exactly what happened to Tendani before his death," said Nethononda.

Police spokesperson Captain Ailwei Mushavhanamadi said he would investigate and find out as to what exactly is happening to the case.
