MUSINA – On Sunday, February 23 two unknown men tried to rob a Spaza shop at a house in Matswale. Less than an hour later, a bakkie was stolen in the centre of the town; fortunately the car was recovered a few hours later.

According to the victim of the attempted armed robbery, a 28-year-old woman, two men wearing balaclavas entered her shop at about 20:25 demanding money. One of the men pulled out a firearm and threatened her. She, however, told them that she does not have any money in the shop, after which her attackers fired two shots into the roof and fled the scene.

Less than an hour later, at 21:00, a Toyota-bakkie was stolen in Bergview. According to the owner, he went to sleep and when he woke up at about 04:00 the next morning, he saw that the vehicle was missing. Members of the local Crime Prevention Unit who spotted it in the same suburb luckily recovered the bakkie at midday. The investigation still continues.
