NGUDZA - After more than 240 hours of toiling and unwavering hope, the community of Ngudza is still searching for the body of David Maselesele, a 13-year-old boy, who was snatched by a crocodile while he was busy fishing with his elder brother and cousin more than two weeks ago.
According to his brother Khumbudzo, the crocodile grabbed David on the leg and he screamed only once, before it disappeared with him into the deeper water.
The search by community members and divers proved fruitless. Earlier this week, the community started to drain the water from the river. After the water had been drained from the river, one crocodile was found early on Monday. According to a spokesperson for the community, Pastor William Netshivhera the crocodile was killed, but no human remains could be found in its stomach.
Netshivhera said the search would continue until the remains of the young boy are found. At the time of going to press, the search was still continuing in the deeper water.
Although the community was doubtful that the boy will be found, Netshivhera said he believe his remains will be found. He also appealed to the community to keep calm and stop making allegations that the boy was seen in someone's house.
