Dynamos again fall prey to criminals

GIYANI – Dynamos Football Club have again fallen victim to armed robbery. This follows an incident that took place at the club's offices on Sunday afternoon at about 17:30.

According to the spokesperson of the police in the Mopani area, Capt Moatshe Ngoepe six cashiers and two reconcilers were escorted by two private security guards from the Giyani Stadium to the club's offices in Giyani shortly after the end of their game against Sundowns FC. The statement indicates that on arrival at the club's offices they were confronted by four heavily armed robbers.

According to Ngoepe each of the robbers was armed with two firearms. The statement further indicates that the robbers ordered everybody to lie with their faces down.

According to the police the robbers then tied the complainants' hands and feet with cable tiers. They also robbed the two security guards their 9mm pistols. They then ordered the cashiers to hand them the cellphones.

They finally stole eight boxes containing cash and fled with a white Toyota Conquest. Capt Ngoepe revealed that a man has been arrested later that evening. According to the statement the man was questioned and released the following morning.

The search for the robbers was still on at the time of going to press. The police have appealed to anyone who has information related to the incident to contact them on their toll free number 0860010111. The Sunday incident took place two weeks after the house of the team's managing director Mr Pat Malabela was hit by armed robbers in Polokwane.

During the incident the robbers took cash amounting to R130 000 and household goods to the value of about R150 000.

Dynamos' Giyani club office was also hit by robbers three months ago. The robbers stole the club's computers and other valuables during the incident.

In an interview with the team's Managing director Mr Pat Malabela he reiterated that there are people who want to see to his club's downfall. "They can kill me as a person but they will not succeed in their endeavours to kill the club," he said.
