Murder suspect still at large

MALAMULELE – The police have opened a murder docket at Malamulele police Station. This follows an incident that occurred in the area last Saturday.

According to the spokesperson of the police in the Mopani Area Capt Moatshe Ngoepe, the deceased, Mrs Merriam Sithole (30) was at the Malamulele Shopping Centre last Friday afternoon.

According to the police the deceased was called by the suspect who had some discussions with her before the two vanished. The statement indicates that the suspect is the deceased's former husband. Furthermore, the two had at some stage stayed together for several years before they differences that led to their separation.

During their period of separation the suspect stayed where he currently stays, which is at Pfalanomo settlement in the Saselemani area while the deceased stayed at Malamulele Township. The deceased's body was discovered by the people who were passing by in the bushes around Malamulele on Saturday afternoon at about 14:00.

The body was found lying under a tree with a rope around its neck. The body was tied against the tree under which it was found. The search for the suspect was still on at the time of going to press. The suspect is said to be working somewhere in the Gauteng Province.

The suspect is said to have come back from the reef last Friday morning, the day on which he was last seen with the deceased. The police are appealing to anyone who has information regarding the incident to contact them at Tel: 015-8510999 or at Tel: 086 001 0111.
