Special awards have been introduced in the Limpopo Province, to acknowledge improvement of services by police stations throughout the province.
Safety and Security MEC, Dikeledi Magadzi announced the introduction of the awards in Polokwane on Tuesday. She expressed the hope that the awards would in future serve as an incentive to improve the service delivery at the province's 92 police stations.
Magadzi pointed out that procedures followed at police stations, attitudes and behaviour of police staff would be major determining factors, in deciding on the allocation of these awards.
A special committee will evaluate questionnaires returned by police stations, and will then carry out inspections in loco, before recommending 6 top contenders to the MEC. The three best stations will then be selected. The winner will receive R10 000, the second best R6 000 and the third placed station R4 000.
