Rewards for Musina's top achievers

MUSINA – The Musina Municipality rewarded the area's academic achievers and sports heroes during a glittering function at the civic centre on Monday evening. It was the first ceremony of its kind held in Musina.

In the academic category fifteen matriculants received a total amount of R35 400 for their achievements during the past matric exams. Peter Mangolo of Musina High received a merit certificate and a cash amount being the best student at Musina High. The best student at Eric Louw, Desire Swart also received a certificate and cash for the four distinctions she obtained.

Among the sports people who have been honoured were South African U/23 Orlando Pirates and Premier Soccer league leading goals scorer Lesley "Slow poison" Manyathela and Josam " J" Ndou of the PSL rookies, the mighty Dynamos Football Club.

Josam received merit certificate plus R2 500 cash. Manyathela's father collected a merit certificate plus R3 500 cash.

Desire said that she is happy and congratulate the Musina Municipality of what they have done to motivate the learners to read harder and appealing to other municipalities to follow suit.

Josam "JJ" Ndou praised the Municipality and promised them he wont let them down. "I'm going to represent my area and be the role model of young people."

The Mayor, Alderman David Phologa, said that the municipality decided to launch the program of promoting different sports codes and choose soccer this year. Next year they will start with a program of awarding the best small business people.

Phologa also congratulates the ladies who won during the Miss Eclipse Contest, who make it possible to market Musina. The winners are Faith Phiri, Moshabeng Moshokoa, and Zondi Baloyi.
