LOUIS TRICHARDT – A Taxpayers Association is to be established at a meeting to be held at 18:00 on Thursday, January 23 (today) in the Dutch Reformed Church Hall on the corner of Stubbs and Anderson Streets.
The purpose of the meeting is to create a plan of action to deal effectively with the Town Council on issues of deep concern to taxpayers, such as the way in which the proposed name change has been handled, as well as the manner in which taxpayers' money is being spent by Council.
Taxpayers are deeply concerned by the arrogance of Council in dealing with those that are in the final analysis, paying the exorbitant salaries of Councillors and Council employees.
The purpose of the association will be to ensure accountability by Council to its nucleus - the taxpayers, who are responsible for the continued existence of the Makhado Municipality.
All those who would like to have a greater say in the effective management of the town and would like to voice their grievances about the pot-holed streets and other forms of mismanagement, are invited to attend this crucial meeting.
