MAKHADO (LOUIS TRICHARDT) – The Emmanuel Christian School once again succeeded in maintaining their record of a 100% pass rate for the fourteenth consecutive year, following last year’s senior exams.

Also pleasing was the increase in the percentage of matriculation exemption (76% for 2004) and in the number of distinctions. Amongst the 21 pupils who wrote the Grade 12 examination, there were 16 distinctions.

The school’s top achievers were Lindsey Miyen (distinctions in Afrikaans, Mathematics, Physical Science, Biology and Computer Science), Joseph Mathai (distinctions in Mathematics, Physical Science, Biology and Accounting) and Fatima Adam (distinctions in mathematics, Physical Science and Afrikaans).

The 2004 group’s outstanding success was all the more rewarding because the group included a number of students who, being unable to understand English a number of years ago, were accepted into a bridging junior class. They are testimony to one of the school’s chief aims, which is to assist and inspire students of all cultures and races to overcome disadvantages, fulfil their potential and inspire a spirit of excellence in our youth who are the future of our country.

The school, which started 16 years ago, is still growing and current enrolment for 2005 stands at about 500 pupils. According to the Education Circuit Manager, Emmanuel Christian School remains one of his top schools.

The school wishes to thank its governing body, under the chairmanship of Hennie van Niekerk, for sound and committed governance, as well as dedicated staff for their commitment to the Christian education project. A thank you also went to the parents and pupils for their loyal support over the years.
