MPHEPHU - A breakthrough has been made, after the police at Mphephu recovered thousands of stolen roof tiles last Friday. The tiles were reported stolen in February 2004.
Insp Nditsheni Ramatsitsi said that, in March 2004, a group of thieves entered at Mrs Sarah Mudau’s homestead and stole 120 roofing tiles. The thieves proceeded to Mavhunga Gonedni Village, where they stole 161 tiles from Mr Samson Manngo’s home.
In April 2004, they stole 175 tiles from Mr Lackson Lehaiwa’s home at Dzanani Village. In May 2004, the thieves broke into Mrs Flora Mazhambe’s home and stole 150 tiles.
The same group broke into Mrs Sophie Thanyani Mawela’s home and looted 154 tiles. Mrs Rebecca Sihavhe of Raliphaswa Funyufunyu Village discovered that about 200 roofing tiles were stolen in April 2004.
Mr Thapedi Isaac Nkhumeleni’s roof tiles were stolen in September 2004 at Makushu Village. About 160 tiles were stolen.
Mr Emmanuel Ndou’s five ridges of roof tiles were reported stolen in May 2004 at Tshituni Thembaluvhilo Village and his seven-roomed house is still incomplete because the thieves had stolen 160 of the tiles.
In February 20, 2004, Mr Dovhani Mavhunga of Raliphaswa Village lost 200 roof tiles after burglars had broken into his house and stolen them.
The last tiles were stolen at Mauluma Village in June 18, 2004.
The suspects will appear in court soon.
