THOHOYANDOU - The Tinkawu Theatre Laboratory, in partnership with the Akanani Rural Development Centre, will organise the first Limpopo Arts Festival next month.

Mr Richard Manamela, Festival Coordinator, said the festival will run from March 24 to 28 in Thohoyandou. He said it will be preceded by a string of activities within the different municipalities in the Vhembe District.

He further said that the main event will include live band music, theatre/drama performances, film shows, choral music, and traditional and contemporary dances.

Manamela added that the festival wants to give the performers a professional platform to showcase their work. “We are partnering with the Vhembe District Municipality and other businesses within the province in order to make this a success,” he said.

He said that most of the performers, especially in live band music, are local, and in the theatre section, the entire region in Limpopo will be represented. “The other objective of the festival is to introduce our practitioners to other people’s work,” he ads.

“We have also invited theatre productions from outside the province, and also outside the country’s borders with bands from Swaziland and also a group from Botswana,” Manamela concluded.
