MAKHADO (LOUIS TRICHARDT) - The number of people directly supporting the Chairperson’s Association in the Supreme Court Case against the name change from Louis Trichardt to Makhado has risen to more than 87 500.
This is mostly due to the fact that the membership of the Chairperson’s Association (CA) has risen to 45 chairpersons representing 87 226 people.
“The common goal of all these members is to enhance good and transparent governance in the area on a non-political basis,” reads a CA press release issued on February 28. The transparent governance should be on the levels of local authority, corporate business, other businesses, companies, tourism and all organizations.
“Currently, there is such a public outcry amongst the Afrikaans, Indian, Buys, Shangaan, Venda and Northern Sotho people against the name change that more than 87 500 people are directly supporting the CA in the Supreme Court Case against the name change,” states Ms Inga Gilfillan, secretary of the CA.
The CA announced that the amplifying affidavits of the CA in respect of the court case against the name change from Louis Trichardt to Makhado, are being filed currently as supported by all the above members. The procedure is that the CA now waits for the State to file its answering affidavits. Thereafter, a reply will possibly be done and the matter will be placed on the role with the Supreme Court of South Africa. The CA trusts that this matter will be heard before the end of this year.
In the meantime, the CA is still proceeding to enhance good corporate governance on all levels of government, as well as on all levels of business and organizations in line with the guidelines as reflected in the King Report 2.
This is done in order to grow a culture of integrity within business, organizations and local authority so that maximum opportunities will be created in this region. This will result in the creation of wealth, which in turn will create more job opportunities.
The CA continuously attempts to create a culture of pride with all the people in this region. This region will then be respected as a region of opportunities for its people and its children, based on a non-political approach. The strengths of each cultural group will be factors to enhance the respect as a region of opportunities.
