RIVERPLAATS – A 41-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the death of his estranged wife, a 38-year-old woman, who stayed with her parents at Riverplaats Village.

According to the police, he separated from his wife some time ago. He then went to her new home on Sunday night at about 20:00. On arrival, the two had an argument. The origin of the argument could not be established.

According to the spokesperson of the police in the Vhembe Area, Supt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, during the argument, the suspect allegedly produced a screwdriver and stabbed the woman several times. She was taken to the Elim Hospital where she was certified dead on arrival.

The suspect vanished after the incident. He was arrested on Tuesday morning. According to the police, Nwadzhule is at present in the Elim Hospital under police guard. He allegedly drank household cleaner and small portions of glass prior to his arrest in a suspected attempt to commit suicide.
