MOPANI – The police in the Mopani area are investigating three murder cases following three separate incidents that took place in the area over the past weekend.
The first incident took place at the Kilder settlement in the Calcata area on Saturday night.
According to the spokesperson of the police in the area, Capt Moatshe Ngoepe, the body of Mr Evans Mathe (22) was found lying in the street on Sunday morning. There were visible bullet wounds on the body. The motive for the kill-ing and the suspects were still unknown at the time of going to press.
The other incident took place at the Rilela village on Sunday night. According to the statement, the deceased, Kenneth Ben Mahunyele (17) was stabbed to death by a 20-year-old suspect at a local drinking spot. The statement further indicates that the deceased and the suspect were engaged in an argument over a bottle of beer.
During the argument, the suspect allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the deceased to death. He died on the spot. Although the police know the suspect, he was still at large at the time of going to press.
The third incident took place at Gkapane village in the Bolobedu area on Saturday night. The statement further indicates that the body of Mrs Meisi Seshaye (53) was found inside the trenches for the foundation of her house that is still under construction on Sunday morning. According to the statement there were several wounds all over the body.
The police have appealed to anyone with information relating to any of the incidents to report to the nearest police station or to phone them at their toll free number: 0800 010 111.
