Mysterious fire torments woman

News  Date: 15 April 2005

MAKUNGWI - Ms Agnes Mulea of Mavhunga Village in Nzhelele is still baffled by a mysterious fire that recently started by itself and burnt her clothes.

Mulea told journalists that the mysterious fire started last week when she got dressed and her clothes caught fire from nowhere. She changed them and took other clothes from the wardrobe. The very same mysterious fire burnt the clothes, but didn’t burn her skin.

Mulea said she hired clothes from her sister and the fire stopped. She is now depending on her sister’s clothes because should she dress her own clothes, the fire from nowhere starts.

The mysterious fire shocked Archbishop Elias Mureri and the Ward 29 Councilor Isaac Kutama who reported the matter to the Mayor of Makhado Municipality. Mayor Cllr Rhulani Nkuzana called pastors to pray for the woman who is having sleepless nights because of this fire. Pastors from different churches have prayed for her and the fire has stopped, but she now feels a burning sensation in her stomach and shoulders.

This is not the first time for the people in Venda to experience horrific things like this. The Makongoza family in Nzhelele experienced something like this in 2001, when a mysterious fire that started by itself devastated their belongings. The family abandoned their house and have been living at Makhado Township since then.

In 2001, at Lwamondo Village, a granny was shocked to see the beef that she had bought at the old-age paypoint was glittering.

Last year in November, a mysterious stone throwing at Ha-Lambani Nzanwe Village terrified Mrs Anna’s family. Although the police were trying to verify the source of stones, their efforts were futile.
