SIBASA – A quarrel between two policemen ended in tragedy, when a 40-year old police inspector shot and killed a 37-year old colleague before turning his pistol on himself on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place at the offices of the Area Commissioner in Sibasa.
According to Senior Superintendent Motlafela Mojapelo, Insp Tshisamphiri Muruge (40) had opened fire and hit Insp Ndiimafhi Netshidzivhe (27) three times in the chest during an argument. He then shot himself in the face, and died instantly.
It is alleged that the two inspectors were engaged in an argument over a girlfriend, but according to Mojapelo, the police are still investigating the matter.
The spokesperson of the SAPS in the Vhembe district, Capt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi denied allegations that the girlfriend works at the Sibasa Area Commissioner.
Mirror’s correspondent managed to enter in the office where the incident happened and found the two inspectors laying in a pool of blood.
* In a separate incident, a 60 year-old woman was found dead on the footpath at Tshaulu village on Tuesday morning.
According to Mushavhanamadi, the woman was last seen making traditional beer, and when she returned home, an unknown person allegedly attacked her. She was found dead early in the morning with bruises all over her head.
The police are still investigating the matter.
