Man accused of killing lover after argument

MOPANI – The police in Mopani are investigating a case of murder, following the death of a 40-year-old woman. The incident took place at the R Ten Farm in the Letsitele area on Monday morning at about 02:00.

According to the spokesperson for the police in the area, Capt Maano Sadiki, it is alleged that the deceased and the suspect were drinking beer at a local spot when the incident occurred.

According to the policed statement, the deceased and the suspect had a love affair. The statement indicates that, while drinking beer, an argument started between the two. The origin of the argument could not be established.

During the argument, the suspect allegedly lost his temper and started assaulting the deceased with his fists. The deceased fell down and her head allegedly hit a steel bar that was lying on the ground. The statement indicates that the suspect went on kicking the deceased while she was lying helplessly on the ground.

The deceased was later taken to the nearby Letaba Hospital where she died after her admission. The deceased was identified as Anna Mokgalaka of R Ten Farm. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. He was still to appear in court at the time of going to press.
