THOHOYANDOU - Police Director Muthuphei Ramaligela encouraged young police officers to commit themselves to their jobs, in order to make this country crime free.

Ramaligela said this during his farewell function held in Thohoyandou’s Old Ministers’ home last Friday. He joined the SAPS in 1968. He attended many courses in order to acquire more knowledge about his job and he was promoted several times. He gained promotion through the junior police ranks and former Paramount Chief Patrick Mphephu promoted him to be a Colonel.

Ramaligela was later promoted to brigadier, and in the democratic government, his rank was converted to Director of the SAPS.

“During my time it was tough in the police and I worked well with Former Paramount Chief of Venda. Patrick Mphephu, and also with Brigadier Gabriel Ramushwana.”

In 1986, he was installed as a Chief of Davhana-Gabeni Village.

Provincial Commissioner of the Police, Calvin Sengani, stated that Ramaligela was a hard-working man who endured hardships during the transformation time.
