MAKHADO (LOUIS TRICHARDT) – Police investigations into a murder case at Maelula last week led to the uncovering of a large quantity of suspected stolen goods at a Mpheni home near Elim.
A 27-year-old male suspect has been arrested at his Mpheni home on a charge of being in possession of suspected stolen property. The goods found in his possession included several bags filled with clothes, household appliances, tools, a DVD-player a bicycle and many more.
The arrest followed an investigation into the murder of a 19-year-old Indian male who was shot and killed in the Machonisa Trading Store at Maelula village on the afternoon of 25 April. Two suspects ran from the scene after the incident without taking anything.
The following morning, the two were arrested and found in possession of a .38 revolver and ammunition. While being questioned, they indicated that they had bought the firearm from a person in Mpheni village. When the police visited the person’s house, they discovered the suspicious goods.
The police at Makhado (Louis Trichardt) called on members of the public whose houses have been burglared recently, to come to the police station to identify their property. The investigating officer is Inspector Mudau.
