No service delivery in Tshivaloni

TSHIVALONI - Villagers of Tshivaloni in the Mutale Municipality are accusing the Mutalele Municipality of poor service delivery.

A resident, Mr Elias Netshivaloni, told journalists that all roads around the village are in a bad condition as a result of erosion, but the municipality is doing nothing. He further said there is no electricity around the Tshivaloni area. Some of the RDP houses have no windowpanes “and we feel that we have voted for nothing,” he said.

“There is only a primary school and no secondary school. Children travel to attend secondary schooling at other villages. The population at Tshivaloni is more than 500, and only five people are employed at Tshikondeni Coal Mine,” he added.

According to him, most of the people are subsistence stock farmers. Most of villagers have no proper housing and they depend on RDP housing. Mrs Ana Mbedzi’s RDP house is still incomplete, whereas other villagers have houses. “When reporting our situation to the Mutale Municipality, nothing changed,” Mbedzi said.

The spokesperson of the Mutale Municipality, Mr Godfrey Ravhura, said villagers are receiving services and there are roads in their village. Unemployment is a challenging problem for the whole South Africa, not only Mutale, he said.
