VAALWATER – Several important environmental projects are to be launched in Limpopo soon, in line with the national objectives which were recently announced.
The MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Mr Collins Chabane, said on Monday that elements of the National Black Economic Empowerment Charter for Tourism would be introduced in the province shortly, in association with important stakeholders in this industry.
Addressing guests, exhibitors and government officials at the opening of the Limpopo Wildlife Expo 2005, Chabane said that moves were afoot to hold in-depth talks with representatives of the hunting industry, with a view to creating greater access for blacks to this sector of the economy. He also hinted at plans to introduce various game species in more areas of the Province, to create a greater awareness of the importance of conservation. “There was also a need for better waste management in the Province, Chabane said. To this end, a “keep Limpopo clean” campaign would be launched, in partnership with communities throughout the Province.
