THOHOYANDOU - Mpho Ramakokovhu (25), talented ballroom dancer from Thohoyandou P-East, will soon jet to the United Kingdom to participate in an international ballroom dancing competition.

Ramakokovhu, of the Born to Move Dancing School, was nominated after he performed well during the South African National Dance Sport Championship held in Bloemfontein in December 11, 2004. Mpho needs businesspeople to sponsor him for his journey to the United Kingdom in order to fulfill his vision of dancing.

The Born to Move Dancing School has 10 couples, (20 individuals) and they are training children from the age of eight years upwards to participate in ballroom dancing. “We don’t look at the weight of a person, but we need children with passion for dancing”.

Born to Move Dancing School was started in 1997 in Gauteng and has participated in the National Competition since 1999. The school stretched its wings to the Limpopo, Vhembe District, in 2000 and affiliated with the South African Dance Sport Federation.

Mpho’s passion for dancing started in 1994 during the time he was in Liivha High School and his parents were not happy with his dancing. His parents became supportive, however, when they realized that dancing was his passion and they couldn’t stop him.

He furthered his training for electrical engineering at Techniven and attended a Ballroom Dancing School in Durban. He later obtained a diploma in ballroom dancing and he is now a professional dancer and also a teacher in ballroom dancing at Born to Move in Thohoyandou.
