SHAYANDIMA - It was a joyful occasion for the Tshilidzini Special School in Shayandima last Wednesday, when the Legal Aid Board and Justice Centre in Makhado decided to adopt the school.
The Tshilidzini Special School has special needs, because all its pupils are disabled and many come from impoverished families who cannot afford specialised treatment.
The Legal Aid Board and Justice Centre recently visited the school and realised the need of the children. It was then decided to adopt the school as part of the project called "Fair Play School".
During the adoption of the school, the Legal Aid Board and Premjee donated juice, sweets and stationery to all learners of Tshilidzini as a sign of supporting them in education.
The Legal Aid Board is providing legal aid all around South Africa to the poor people where possible, including vulnerable groups, such as women and children.
The co-ordinator of the Legal Aid Board and Justice Centre in Makhado, Mrs Riana Sheepers, told Mirror that she feels happy to adopt the Tshilidzini Special School for a better life for all the children. "I believe that, through this adoption, the whole school is going to improve in all aspects of life. We are going to work hard by giving our children advice and assistance."
The principal of the school, MR Mbulaheni Maluma, told Mirror that the gesture of the Legal Aid Board shows that organisations and companies are taking care of schools for disabled pupils.
