Businessman shot dead by two robbers

SOEKMEKAAR – The Soekmekaar SAPS are desperately looking for two assailants who shot and killed a businessman, Mr Maila Phineus Fuduwa (50) at Mmatseke Village on April 24, 2004 at about 20:30.

According to the police, two unknown gunmen ambushed the deceased while his wife was unlocking and opening the gate for the vehicle after knocking-off from their General Dealer at Mmatseke. Police said that the two suspects who were hiding in a mealie field fired two shots. Mr Fuduwa was hit in the head and he died instantly. The two law-breakers disappeared with the basket and the keys for the store keys.

The police said that the deceased's wife was not hurt during the incident and during the time of going to press the suspects were still at large.

Meanwhile, the police at Siloam have arrested a 20-year-old man for attempted murder at Tshithuthuni Village on Monday. According to the police, Livhuwani Muladi (17) was going to school at Nditsheni Secondary School when she was approached by her former-boy friend, Mashudu Phungo on Monday.

It is further alleged that a heated argument erupted and the suspect pulled out a Z88 pistol, he stole from his aunt, who is police constable at Musina SAPS. He then allegedly shot Livhuwani in the left shoulder and neck. Later on the day, suspect shot himself on the head at Tshavhalovhedzi Village.

Both were taken to the Siloam Hospital for treatment where during the time of going to press Livhuwani was still in a critical condition, while Phungo was reported to have died at the hospital. The police have confiscated the pistol.
