MAKHADO (LOUIS TRICHARDT) – Local police have opened a case of kidnapping and rape after a 50-year-old woman was kidnapped and raped on Friday, June 24.
According to the police, the woman was walking along Songwozwi Street in the direction of Eltivillas, when she was grabbed from behind by three suspects. This happened at about 17:30.
The suspects forced her into a waiting car, blindfolded her with a hat and drove off. At one stage, they stopped and proceeded with robbing her of R150, her cellphone, handbag and two plastic bags containing food and blankets respectively. As if this was not enough, one of her attackers raped her.
The terrified woman was forced back into the car, still blindfolded, after which her attackers dumped her along the Beja Road. The staggering and traumatized woman was found by an oncoming motorist who assisted her by taking her to hospital for medical treatment.
Police have appealed to anyone with information about the attack or perpetrators to contact their nearest police station.
