As part of accelerating service delivery, the Musina Local Municipality recently purchased a warrant-tracing vehicle at a cost of R450 000.
Mr Daniel Hlungwane, who heads the traffic department of the Musina Municipality, acknowledged that the newly acquired vehicle will help in speeding up service delivery. “We didn’t have enough vehicles and I am happy that this vehicle will help us to execute our duties with ease. It has definitely come at the right time as we anticipate high volumes of traffic towards the end of the year.”
Hlungwane warned motorists that the time for absconding with traffic fines will be a thing of the past. “We will use this vehicle to trace offenders who do not pay for their traffic fines. The law is clear that if you are issued with a traffic fine, you don’t have any other option but to pay. It is a criminal offence not to pay any traffic fine as issued by a traffic officer.”
The communications manager of Musina Municipality, Mr Wilson Dzebu, said: “Given its geographic location, Musina experiences high volumes of traffic on a daily basis. Providing our traffic officers with the necessary tools of the trade will go a long way in helping them to execute their duties easily. This is one of our many measures in place to accelerate service delivery to our people.”
One of the traffic officers, Mr Douglas Simali, said that the provision of relevant resources by their employer was a clear indication that the issue of service delivery was a priority. “The acquisition of this vehicle will encourage us to work hard because we know that our employer cares for us. We will also be able to provide service to our people promptly.”
