The Far North Media Association received a welcome facelift during a meeting at the University of Limpopo on Friday, with the establishment of a new media forum for the province, the Limpopo Media Association (LMA).

During the meeting, a new interim committee was elected to facilitate the objectives of practitioners in the private and public media sectors during the first year.

As a platform for media practitioners in Limpopo, the main objectives of LMA will be to coordinate all media-related activities in Limpopo, to conduct workshops on a continuous basis, to provide training to emergent journalists and to organise an annual awards ceremony where recognition on provincial level will be given for media contributions in various categories.

Newly elected chairperson Mr Ndivhuwo Musetha said the first priority of the association will be to organise a media summit during November this year to bring together all stakeholders in the various media fields with the view to discussing the way forward with media development and diversity in Limpopo.
