New Chief for Ngulumbi Village

NGULUMBI – Chief Edzani Ratshitanga was installed as the new chief of Ngulumbi Village last Saturday. He was installed by Thovhele Kennedy Tshivhase.

The people of Ngulumbi village have been living without a leader after the death of Chief Thizwilondi “Ratshibvumo” Ratshitanga last year. This was the case until the Ratshitanga family, led by its chairperson Thiofhi Ratshitanga, came together and selected Mr Nkhumbuleni “Edzani” Ratshitanga as the new chief during the ceremony held at Ngulumbi last Saturday.

His Ndumi is Mr Mulisa Makwarela Ratshitanga and Mrs Masala Luvhengo was selected as Khadzi of the family. Chief Edzani is not only depending on the chieftaincy salary, he also owns an IT school outside Thohoyandou. He is the Chief Administrative Officer at the University of Venda for Science and Technology. He is married and the couple has two children, Zwivhuya (son), and Maano (girl).

The new chief prefers teamwork, and promised to work with the people, because a chief is a chief because of people. Edzani further said villagers must participate in the development of their village. “I am now focusing on the development of the youth in technology. I managing the IT combined school that started in 2002 in Thohoyandou, and about 160 learners have already registered,” he said.
