Pioneer buried at Makonde

MAKONDE - One of the big trees in the Vhembe District, Mr Jameson Dzebu, who died on July 22, was buried in the Makonde Cemetery last Saturday.

Mr Jameson Dzebu was a pioneer in the development of education in the Vhembe District. He was a role model to many, as his son Wilson Dzebu is a journalist (Mirror correspondent) and also a librarian at the University of Venda for Science and Technology.

Many described Mr Dzebu as a responsible man, who started his primary school education at Mbulu Primary (Khubvi), and proceeded to Vhufuli where he completed his secondary schooling at MacDonald Secondary, which is now called Tshivhase Secondary.

He registered for tertiary training at the Vendaland Training Institute (Tshakhuma), where he completed his diploma in teaching.

After completing the diploma, he worked as principal in many schools like Tshilonwe Primary, Georgenhaltz, Duthuni, Tshidimbini, Khubvi, Mudaswali, Mianzwi, Matangari, and Maramanzhi. He retired when heading the Primary school at Tshipako.

He left two wives, sixteen children, 53 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
