MOPANI – The police in the Mopani area are investigating a case of murder following a tragic incident that took place at the Thulamahashe settlement in the Mhala area on Monday morning at about 08:30.
According to the spokesperson for the police in the area, Capt Maano Sadiki, it is alleged that the deceased, Bongani Ngoma (30) and his girlfriend were engaged in a heated debate before the incident. The origin for the argument could not be established.
According to the police statement, it is alleged that during the argument Ngoma apparently lost his temper, produced a firearm and shot his lover, Rhulani Sithole, in the head. The statement further indicates that Ngoma later turned the weapon on himself. The police arrived at the scene soon thereafter.
On inspecting the bodies, the police found that there were two bullet wounds in Sithole’s head. Ngoma’s body had only one bullet wound to the head. The 9mm pistol that was allegedly used during the incident was found next to Ngoma’s body.
It was not clear whether the firearm is licensed or not and the police are investigating the matter. They appealed to the people who have information regarding the matter to contact them.
