More than 200 youths from disadvantaged backgrounds from around the Makhado municipal area, who recently completed a national skills development programme, received their certificates at the Makhado show grounds hall two weeks ago.
The students were equipped with skills such as planning and implementing youth development projects for sustainability, developing of entrepreneurship, health, arts and culture, building, welding, sewing, as well as facilitating the development of young people to realise their potential.
The programme started early this year and with the assistance from several organisations.
raining and Development, Coghsta, the Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Salga and the National Home Builders Registration Council initiated an organisation that will help eliminate youth unemployment and create economic growth.
Cllr David Davhana of the Makhado Municipality said that the municipality's youth programme was focusing on empowering them with skills that could assist them later in life. He said the different skills would stand them in good stead to compete with others in the job market and they could also start their own jobs and for others.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
